Stacy Cohen, MD is board-certified in General Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry. She completed her internship at University of Chicago Hospital and her residency at Rush University Medical Center. She then obtained her fellowship training at UCLA’s Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior. She has held clinical and leadership positions in a variety of settings including residential and outpatient addiction treatment centers, community mental health programs, and private practice. She is also trained in the NADA protocol for Acupuncture Detoxification.
Dr. Cohen’s expertise includes a variety of behavioral and psychiatric disorders, with specific interests in addiction, women’s issues, and complementary treatments. She believes in an integrative approach to mental health care including biological, psychological, social, and spiritual components. Using a combination of evidence-based medicine, psychotherapeutic techniques, and complementary strategies, Dr. Cohen customizes treatment plans to meet patients’ needs. Her holistic approach to recovery includes an emphasis on lifestyle and self-care in addition to psychopharmacological treatment.
Dr. Cohen has published medical literature in the areas of reproductive psychiatry and addiction psychiatry, and she has taught clinicians in multiple levels of training at UCLA and USC. She is the author of a chapter in the textbook entitled “Addiction in the Older Patient.”
